Driving
This was fun. I hadn't driven this for a while, not since the new turbo and bleed valve had been fitted.
After dropping James/Sarah down in town to go and get some food, I went for a drive. As instructed I went up the old A3 to see what she could do (sensibly - I cant afford to break it). After driving through town to get there, there were glens everywhere. Oh well. Toasted a couple of cars up to the Drovers, and then turned round. A clear run.
This car has so much torque its really good! 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, oh how fast am i going??!?, 5th (stop accellerating now - corner)...oh whats that - a Maserarti 3200GT. I came up on this car pretty quick. Brakes worked well! After slowing down alot, I realise this guy is doing between 9x and 10x mph! GoooOOOOoood...
The only other notable incident was round the one way system. I was just coming on to the striaght bit (where you can go up ramshill or round again) and saw a mynt Ford RST Escort (Series 1). He was going quite fast - 5x-6xmph, oh well. After accellerating round to get him, I pull up next to him, shake my finger at him and his "crew" and nail it. Bye bye gti.
Final Verdict
- Handles alot better than I thought
- Quick! - lots of torque
- 1st is silly
- 3rd is best
- Brakes are ok once
- It's nice and easy to drive - your mum could drive it, but you allways end up speeding - its just too easy!
- Would be nice to know by just how much your breaking the law (the speedo has a cheap conversion from Jap spec - it goes off the clock at 110mph)
