Honda Integra Type R (DC2) : Test Drives
This was just by chance, driving too pick up the wheels for Hugh's Golf, when we noticed a Honda Integra Type R. It was standard, white, and up for £7,999. It looked good.
Blagging this test drive was easy, only took about five minutes; letting it warm up nicely. The glen drove it on the way out which was a shame, as it was easy to drive, and it taught me nothing.
Some good bullshit comments from the test drive nanny were;
- "I was pullin' 1-60 [160mph] down 'ere and she 'ad more left" with me and Hugh sat thinking the top speed was about 145mph....???
His random and incorrect discription of how the LSD worked was also amuzing.
Also this was funny;
- Me: "I know nothing about cars/modifed cars"
- Owner: "Oh ok."
- Me: "It's quite loud"
- Owner: "It's the second cam"
- Me: "When's it come in?"
- Owner: "2000rpm the VTEC kicks in" <---- BULL SHIT
- Me: "No, it's about 5500rpm depending upon engine loading etc"
- Owner: "....."
Anyway, it was nice, fast, not much torque, not too stiff ride, good brakes (but did not do a maxi-abs test), lovley noise and seats. No rattles at all and it had done 50,000 and was a R reg (5+ years old).
The test drive nanny was talking all the time until I drove, 1st.. 2nd... 3rd.... 4th toward a roundabout. brakes. Corner. understeer. grip. Nice.
The images are not of the actual car, as, like a muppet - i did not have my camera. The power figures of 170ps are unaltered at the wheels figures, with the transmission loss being 15%.
Much recommended;
- Speed:
Fast, but no pulsar - Attitude:
Cool, respect - Ride:
Hard, but not too bad - could take your mum. Not too much room in back. Good seats in front. - Brakes:
Good - Overall:
Really like, could supercharge or turbo.
